# MoloWorks Getting Started Checklist

For students ages 10+ and their parent, guardian, or teacher.

## Before you build

- [ ] Ask an adult to supervise your first setup and any work involving power, tools, or small parts.
- [ ] Use a clear, dry table with good lighting.
- [ ] Keep food, drinks, pets, and loose metal objects away from the electronics.
- [ ] Check that you have a computer, a data-capable USB cable, and the project parts listed in your guide.
- [ ] Wash and dry your hands before handling the board.
- [ ] Do not connect household electricity, batteries, chargers, or parts that are not approved for the project.

## Meet your kit

- [ ] Find the ESP32-S3 board without bending its pins.
- [ ] Match each sensor or module to the photo and name in your project guide.
- [ ] Sort jumper wires by connector type: male-to-male, male-to-female, and female-to-female.
- [ ] Leave the board unplugged while making or changing wire connections.

## Set up your computer

- [ ] Follow the current installation instructions linked on the MoloWorks Learn page.
- [ ] Ask an adult before installing software or allowing a new device permission.
- [ ] Connect the ESP32-S3 directly to the computer with a data-capable USB cable.
- [ ] Select the board and port specified by your lesson.
- [ ] Run the lesson's first test before adding sensors.

## Build safely

- [ ] Compare every wire with the diagram before plugging in USB power.
- [ ] Never force a connector or pin.
- [ ] Keep fingers, hair, and clothing away from moving wheels and servo arms.
- [ ] Stop immediately if a part becomes hot, smells unusual, makes smoke, or behaves unexpectedly. Unplug USB power and tell an adult.
- [ ] Power off before changing the circuit.

## Finish the session

- [ ] Save your code with a clear project name and date.
- [ ] Write down one thing that worked and one question to investigate.
- [ ] Unplug the board, then return every part to its labeled bag or compartment.
- [ ] Ask for help through the support options listed on the MoloWorks website if you are stuck.

This checklist is general learning guidance. Always follow the instructions supplied with your specific board, component, and lesson.
